Christian Nationalists are trying to fuse their church into our state. Don't let them.
The Trump Administration is weaponizing “religious freedom” to impose one belief system on all of us.
Trump’s Religious Liberty Commission is openly advancing a Christian Nationalist agenda that would privilege one set of beliefs over all others:
- Imposing coercive prayer in public schools
- Promoting dangerous conversion “therapy” practices targeting LGBTQ+ youth
- Weaponizing “religious freedom” as a tool for discrimination
- Turning public schools into spaces for religious indoctrination
- Denying healthcare to those who need it
- Stripping away civil rights protections – all in the name of religion
Powerful Christian Nationalist groups like Alliance Defending Freedom – an aggressive anti-LGBTQ+, anti-abortion legal group – are pushing coordinated campaigns across the country to destroy our democracy by undermining the separation of church and state.
Americans United is launching a new Freedom Without Favor Fund.
This ambitious 4-year, $5 million project is critical in the fight to protect our democracy and defend the rights of all Americans. The Freedom Without Favor Fund will give us the vital resources we need to fight this escalating threat.
Christian Nationalists are prepared to stop at nothing to codify Christian privilege into law and secure their power at the expense of everyone else.
Here’s what’s at stake:
- Public Schools: They are pushing for mandatory prayer in schools, undermining the constitutional promise of church-state separation.
- Reproductive Rights: They are attacking access to abortion and reproductive healthcare, threatening the health of millions of Americans.
- LGBTQ+ Rights: They are advancing harmful restrictions on LGBTQ+ individuals, compromising their equality and safety.
The Freedom Without Favor Fund is the path to victory
For nearly 80 years Americans United has defended church-state separation and repelled previous waves of white Christian Nationalism. We’ve been through a Trump administration before. It was a hard four years, but we fought back and ultimately defeated many of the harmful policies he enacted.
Christian Nationalism has seized power in a way it could not on Jan. 6, 2021, and we have a serious fight ahead in 2025 and beyond.
But we are undeterred. Americans United was made for this moment.
