Join us for two events discussing the election results – and what comes next

a group of people in circles
November 12, 2024

You’re invited to attend two events exploring what happened on Election Day. We’ll discuss what’s next in the days, weeks and months to come for church-state separation, inclusive religious freedom and our democracy.

Tonight, Nov. 12, from 7:30-8:30 p.m. EST, an expert panel will explore key topics in the election including voting and election integrity, abortion and reproductive rights, private school vouchers and the impact of Christian Nationalists and political extremism. You can sign up here.

Panelists include:

  • Nik Nartowicz, Lead Policy Counsel, Americans United
  • Pooja Chaudhuri, Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law
  • Eric Ward, Race Forward

This event is part of SRF365, a series of free, year-round virtual programs that offer a taste of what attendees can expect at AU’s annual Summit for Religious Freedom (SRF) on April 5-7, 2025, in the Greater Washington, D.C., area, or virtually. SRF365 amplifies and supplements the Summit’s content and creates a year-round hub for education, building power, networking and taking action together.

Gathering in Los Angeles

The second event, “Religion, Democracy & the 2024 Election,” will take place in person and virtually on Thursday, Nov. 21, from 7:00-10:00 p.m. PT at 514 West Adams Blvd., Los Angeles.

This event features two panel discussions with an illustrious group of scholars and leaders who will help process the Nov. 5 election – and prepare us for what’s next for church-state separation and religious freedom in the days and months to come.

Moderated by Dan Miller, the co-host of the “Straight White American Jesus” podcast, the event will feature two stellar panels, including:

  • Rachel Laser, President & CEO, Americans United
  • Andrew L. Seidel, VP of Strategic Communications, Americans United
  • Bradley Onishi, Co-host of “Straight White American Jesus” and author of Preparing for War (and a former SRF keynote speaker)
  • Arlene Sanchez Walsh, author of Pentecostals in America
  • Khyati Joshi, author of White Christian Privilege
  • Julie Ingersoll, author of Building God’s Kingdom: Inside the World of Christian Reconstruction

You can register here. Tickets are $25 for in-person or $12 for virtual.

In-person space is limited!

Space is limited and tickets will only be available at the door if the event has not already sold out (previous events have sold out). Attendees are also invited to a light reception and book signing prior to the start of the event at 6 p.m. outside the venue and to an after party at a nearby location. (Details for the after party will be shared with in-person attendees.)

Americans United is co-sponsoring this event along with the University of Southern California Knight Program in Media and Religion, Good Faith Media, Atheists United, Axis Mundi and the “Straight White American Jesus” podcast.

We hope to see you at these events!
