The third annual Summit for Religious Freedom takes place this weekend!
For those who can’t make the trip to Washington, D.C., to participate in person, you won’t want to miss your chance to join us for an impressive virtual program on April 5-7! You’ll be able to watch all the keynote speakers, a curated selection of breakout sessions and ask questions LIVE without having to leave the comfort of your home!
In the weeks following SRF, virtual attendees will also receive links to the recordings of these live-streamed keynotes and seminars. Don’t miss out on SRF – register now to join us virtually on April 5-7!
Check out the awesome programming!
SRF programming that’s available virtually includes:
- Brilliant keynote speakers like author and professor Dr. Jemar Tisby, American Federation of Teachers President Randi Weingarten, and podcaster and author April Ajoy, who just penned a hopeful personal memoir about escaping Christian Nationalism.
- “Unmasking the Influence: The Koch Network, Book Bans, and the Fight for Academic Freedom in Schools” will examine the role of both conservative and liberal actors in driving book bans, censorship, and privatization efforts in public schools. The session will also highlight how these groups—though ideologically different—are advancing policies that undermine academic freedom, suppress discussions of race, gender, and LGBTQ+ rights, and promote ideological censorship.
- “Bias and the Bench: How Religious Beliefs Shape Supreme Court Abortion Decisions” will explore the way bias, including religious beliefs, plays a role in abortion-related decisions at the Supreme Court. The presenters will track the history and rhetoric of conservative Christian beliefs within the U.S. legal system and discuss ways to stop the movement to enshrine “fetal personhood” into law.
- Mandisa Thomas, the president of Black Nonbelievers Inc., will lead “The Black Nonreligious Role in Religious Freedom and Racial Justice.” The session will explore the history of Black nonreligious activism, the organizational work of Black Nonbelievers in the current fight for religious freedom and racial justice, and how working with progressive allies can vastly improve equality for all.
- “Religious Freedom Empowers Religious Flourishing” will explore how religious freedom protects and advances faith communities. Through case studies, discussion, and engagement, our speakers from the BJC (Baptist Joint Committee for Religious Liberty) will equip advocates with tools to defend religious freedom for all, challenge Christian Nationalism, and build inclusive, pluralistic communities.
SRF: A forum to learn, advocate and share
There’s never been a more important time for us to come together and learn, share and advocate with one united voice for religious freedom, church-state separation and the issues that depend on them.
