As we noted on the “Wall of Separation” yesterday, today is Giving Tuesday. Americans United is trying to raise $50,000 by the end of today. If we meet that goal, the figure will be matched to $100,000.

Remember, Americans United is not new to this. We’ve been around for almost 80 years, and during that time, we’ve fought back against more efforts to undermine religious freedom than we can count. Some came from the White House, others from Congress and state legislatures and still others from well-heeled Christian Nationalist groups. No matter the source, AU was there to meet them.
We know what the opponents of church-state separation want to do. We know how dangerous their schemes are. And we also know how to stop them.
The scope of the challenges we’ll face next year may seem daunting, but remember this: The American people are with us. We see that in the polling data. And we saw it on election night, when Americans voted in state ballot referenda to protect reproductive rights and public education.
The fact is, Americans don’t want to live in a country without church-state separation. That’s not what they voted for Nov. 5.
With your help, we’ll make sure the Trump administration and its Christian Nationalist cronies know that.
